About Mission Bit Mission Bit is a San Francisco-based nonprofit that inspires youth of color to explore the world of STEM with project-based computer science education that embraces their identities.
We offer a variety of hands-on STEM education programs, including biweekly, semester-long introductory coding courses.The roleAs a TA with us, you’ll promote a welcoming and supportive class community, foster productive collaboration, track student progress, and help students realize their potential.We’re proud to provide training to all instructional staff to prepare them to teach, along with ongoing support throughout the semester!

This is a seasonal, semester-based, remote role based in San Francisco, CA from January 23 to May 16, 2025, with 6+/- hours per week.ScheduleInstructor Training Asynchronous training: January 23 - January 30, 2025 Live training (for remote instructors): January 30 and 31, 4:00 PM - 6:30 PM via Zoom Class Dates February 10 - May 9, 2025 Mondays and Wednesdays from 4:50 PM - 7:10 PM Weekly MeetingsMondays from 2:00 PM - 3:00 PM, 1 hour a week to meet with the instructional team (virtual)Additional dates Demo day: TBD End-of-semester interview: 30 minutes between May 12, 2024 - May 16, 2024 Hours6+/- hours per weekLocationRemoteWhat you’ll be doing:70% Community building, classroom management, and student support Create an inclusive and community-based classroom culture surrounding the Mission Bit core values of social justice, community, accountability, smart risks, and love Plan and lead community-building games and activities Foster individual and meaningful relationships with students Promote positive, productive collaboration between students Ensure students receive the support they need throughout the course to effectively and confidently showcase a capstone project at our Demo Day Effectively manage classroom behavior to foster a productive learning environment for all students Lead class in the event the lead instructor is out 20% Professional collaboration Attend weekly staff meetings (to be determined at the start of the semester).
Communicate and collaborate with Lead Instructor and other instructional staff 10% Communication Communicate course progress to students and their families Communicate student progress and success throughout the course to the Program Staff so we can collectively support students’ learning
