An emergency management consultant provides advice and analytical services to private businesses and government agencies on how to deal with emergency situations or any emergency management functions or disciplines.

You also advise them on how to improve the plan or procedure for different types of emergencies.

You may also help organizations or communities prepare grant applications or other financial requests to state and federal agencies to improve disaster preparedness.

Each Consultant will have a specific work portfolio based on skills sets and needs.Tasks, Duties, and Responsibilities:Reasonable accommodation will be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the following essential functions: Support operation functions within your primary focus area of emergency management, which may include leading portions of project tasks.

Gain experience in other emergency management areas as opportunities arise for exposure.

Provide direct client support and deliverables with supervision as appropriate.

Develop a client relations skillset utilizing your knowledge of principals of the emergency management framework.

Engage in opportunities with mentors and senior level consultants to diversify and build upon existing capabilities.

Provide support for specific portions of projects, helping to ensure all aspects are completed as outlined according to the timeline as assigned.

Lead portions of smaller projects and assist on larger project tasks, while developing delegation skills and participating in client engagement opportunities.

Develop deeper knowledge of project operations, while building organizational skills.

Meet personnel allocation and utilization targets.

Attend and participate in all individual and group assigned and scheduled meetings and events.

Respond and engage in other company communications as appropriate.

Engage in client engagement opportunities at conferences and networking events.

Attend information sessions and present or engage as requested.

Develop knowledge of company client engagement practices.

Expand upon knowledge of company services and contracts.

Support at events/conferences.

Shadow in on business development meetings and opportunities.

Increase knowledge and get hands on experience with different firm capabilities, business events, teaming partners and competition.

Begin to identify potential opportunities for ACDC to expand on current client contracts or enter into new contracts.

Share with leadership any information or leads for additional business opportunities.

Attend and participate in all assigned job-related training opportunities.

Assist with preparing client training events, information sessions, and materials.

Use knowledge and best practices to consult on decisions of portions of project tasks and individual work assigned.

Seek guidance and support from leadership on task priorities according to business and client needs.

Develop currency of and compliance with applicable state and federal policies, procedures, and guidance documents.

Participate in opportunities for additional experience and become knowledgeable in one or more additional areas of Emergency Management, striving for expert level knowledge in at least one specialized area.

Maintain/pursue knowledge, credentials, and career development opportunities During a disaster, you may be called into the field to support relief efforts or assist with organizing responses to support advanced roles in emergency situations and/or activations.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities:This position will not have supervisory responsibilities, but may serve as lead on projects with senior management oversight.Expected Hours of Work:Schedule may vary and require work on evenings and weekends and dependability and punctuality are paramount.Travel Requirements: Up to 50% travel is expected for this position.

Must be willing to travel and deploy to client sites for extended periods of time.

Sitting or standing for hours at a time.

Ability to work at a computer for extended periods of time if needed.

Working Environment: Emergency management consultants may work in an office or home environment or be deployed to the field which may require working outdoors in adverse weather conditions.

Work may be on-site with clients ex: EOC, hospital, debris sites or local government buildings.

All AC Disaster Consulting (ACDC) positions are remote work site positions with the home location agreed upon at time of hire.

If the remote work site locations change, ACDC Human Resources must be made aware, and leadership needs to approve any site changes for business registration and payroll tax purposes.
