Candidates who will excel in this role are able to understand the complex challenges of the Source to Pay functions to drive greater insight, analytics, and efficiencies for a global organization.

You will have the opportunity to partner with a global team of procurement and digital colleagues to lead digital improvements in foundational activities such as category management, sourcing, supplier, and contract management, spend analytics, Procurement systems and processes, as well as focus areas such as sustainable sourcing.Reporting to the Executive Director of Digital Finance & Procurement, the Principal Systems Engineer will be responsible for scaling purchasing capabilities through key applications such as Ariba, S/4HANA, and more.

We are looking for a candidate who can successfully deliver a modern, world-class portfolio of digital innovations in the procurement space and who is excited to make an impact as part of a high-growth, transformational company that is Bold, Relentless, Curious, and Collaborative.Here’s What You’ll Do:Your key responsibilities will be:Evaluate and recommend industry-leading solutions to meet sourcing, contracting, onboarding, purchasing, and invoicing needs.Partner with business stakeholders, gather requirements, and design, develop, test, document, and support solutions.Partner with development teams to enable AI, Analytics, and Automation solutions into business processes to scale with the organization.Proactively engage with procurement stakeholders to support business operations, training opportunities, and manage escalations as required.Understand business needs and lead thoughtful design discussions around meeting those business needs in a standard manner, fully leveraging Ariba product capabilities as well as those from S/4HANA.Ensure adoption of best-in-class practices and standards for development, support, testing, and documentation.Drive timely and proactive issue identification, escalation, and resolution.Work with Digital and Procurement leadership to identify roadmap opportunities for continuous improvement.Your responsibilities will also include:Engaging in continuous learning to stay updated with the latest industry trends and technological advancements in procurement systems.Collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of digital solutions.Providing mentorship and support to junior team members to foster a culture of growth and innovation.The key Moderna Mindsets you’ll need to succeed in the role:We pursue options in parallel: This mindset will help you evaluate multiple solutions simultaneously, ensuring the best choice is made for sourcing, contracting, and procurement needs.We question convention: Leveraging this mindset will allow you to challenge traditional methods and implement innovative digital solutions that drive efficiency and effectiveness in procurement processes.Here’s What You’ll Bring to the Table:Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field AND 6+ years’ experience in technology solutions, practice development, architecture, consulting, and/or technology domainOR Master's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field AND 6+ years’ experience in technology solutions, practice development, architecture, consulting, and/or technology domainExperience in procurement delivery or consulting, working with SAP Procurement and Ariba solutions including SLP, Guided Buying, Contracting & Spend Mgmt.

reportingSAP certification preferredStrong understanding and experience in the procurement function from sourcing to payment capabilities, procurement process analysis and optimization, functional solution architecture, and technology domain related to procurement functionExcellent interpersonal and communication skills with ability to work collaboratively within a team of cross functional stakeholders to influence decisions at every level of the organizationSuccessful ability to translate business requirements into solutions requirements and facilitate effective communication between the digital delivery and procurement teamSelf-directed with effective analytical and problem-solving skills.
