Job Description
OpenMined Foundation's MissionOpenMined Foundation is a non-profit dedicated to building the public network (open internet) for non-public (closed) information.
We envision a future where everyone can use privacy-enhanced, open-source tools to access answers needed to improve society, informed by public and non-public data, while preventing misuse.
By 2034, we foresee the world’s leading democratic institutions stewarding a majority of the world’s data owners and scientists on the internet for non-public information, ensuring a future free from walled-garden control under democratic, ethical oversight.Founded in 2017, OpenMined is a fully distributed, open-source community of over 16,000 engineers, researchers, organizers, product managers, project managers, writers, teachers, and enthusiasts, actively developing open-source software, online courses, and impact pilots with strategic partners.
Our open-source software includes industry-leading private AI tools (such as PySyft, PyDP, TenSEAL, and more).
Since 2021, our course platform has enrolled over 12,000 students, and we have numerous impact projects with major governments, enterprises, and academic labs, including the United Nations Privacy Enhancing Technology Lab, five national statistics offices across Europe and North America, Twitter/X, Microsoft, DailyMotion, Reddit, and universities globally. If successful, our software will lead to a 1,000x increase in data availability across scientific, public service, and industrial applications, sparking a decade of breakthroughs in science and industry.
It will also create a new ecosystem of tools for AI safety and governance, setting the standard for major enterprises to open their algorithms for external audit. We see this transition as the birth of a new internet—one rich with non-public information that can address life’s most pressing questions.
